BRIEF REVIEW OF THE DAY OF THE DEAD
We all know that deep sleep from which we are not ever waking up. It scares and anguish when this is close to us or someone we love. It is said that Mexico will make fun of death, the face and the ridicule, but what few know is that the origin of this tradition is pre-Hispanic, because the Aztecs had very rooted in their culture of death, symbolized by Mictlantecuhtli goddess (who died a natural death, came to "Mictlan"). The Day of the Dead feast celebrated the beginning of the harvesting of crops. Symbolizing the end of a cycle.
In Mexico, the first of November is the feast of All Saints, ie all who are in heaven, baptized children and all the saints, the Virgin Mary, among others. The offerings of the second of November, which are held every year, lately they have been called "The Cult of the Dead." According to the Catholic Church, the second of November is a day appointed to pray for our dead who died forgiven, so God purifies the soul. This tradition varies according to the custom of each region or state. The dead are offered food, alcohol and cigarettes, according to the tastes and vices which they have in life.
It is unfortunate that so far this day that is filled with great tradition see obscured by the appearance of the famous "Holloween". Please value the beauty of our traditions.
As is tradition, the day 1 and 2 of November we warmly remember our loved ones who have already left this world, and are enjoying eternal peace. All week it was for cleaning the cementary so we all could be with them these two days, people gradually came to clean the graves of their loved ones, and on Sunday several grave with flowers and wreaths, some with offerings that were the tastes of those who rest there.
The cementary was looking very beautiful as is the custom every year, the 2nd day we had the Mass at noon, many people attended the celebration to remember their loved ones, before starting the mass was read the list of most of the faithful departed rest in this cemetery, after the Mass, some of the people who came brought food to share and be with their loved ones all day, later was praying the rosary for all the faithful departed, to then continue with a little music and cheer this day to be near our loved ones, to feel them again and remind us about fondly. Well, here I leave a small review of what happened in these days, some images for you to see the joy that was experienced, my partner Gama will bring to you more notes from this event.
